Rain!
The house is quiet; even the refrigerator has reduced the decibel of it's hum. It's been a long time since we heard drops spit against the window pains, or play woodpecker on the guttering. All the eensy-weensy spiders have been washed down the spout and it may be Monday before the sun dries up all the rain so they can climb again. Everything wants to be still, soak it in, beg it to stick around as long as it possibly can. If it were not the dead dark of night, I'd go out there to the massive cracks just to watch the water slide into them. But now, since my eyelids are finally getting heavy, I think I'll just let the rain, along with the bass backdrop of rumbling thunder be my lullabye.
