Autumn

The crisp of fall is fluttering in from the north. Perhaps gusting is a more appropriate word choice. When we went to bed last night, we opened a couple windows and turned on the whole-house fan, because it was in the 80s inside and the 70s outside. By this morning it was 63 in here. Brrr.

It smells like cut grass and dust outside; out neighbor was up early edging his lawn and mowing. The people who recently bought the house across from us on the north side of the street have finished sprucing up the outside, and have moved inside. Unlike my dh who plays music or the TV at full volume so he can listen to something while he works, these are a quiet lot. I don't see the woman over there much now that the flowerbeds are manicured and the outside is painted, so her little black miniature poodle isn't trotting around either. That's a nice thing; I had awful visions of backing over it.

The high school band was up early this morning, which I eventually found to be puzzling. At first I just thought they were getting ready for a game, but then I was reminded by those more football-savvy than I that the high schools play their games on Friday night. But there was no mistaking that base drum boom. Over and over and over again. My dh suggested that perhaps they did such a bad job last night that the director called a mandatory Saturday practice.

The sky is clear and brilliant; we had racing clouds most of yesterday. The wind though is still hearty. Dh is off to site in a scope. Football season is well underway. Hunting season isn't far behind.

Nice write... I just jotted a little story starter from your prompt page. :^) First thing that popped into my head wend onto my blog.

Mother Nature sure turned off the heat in a hurry at nights here, that's for sure! Homecoming football game and dance is this coming weekend for us. Early, I think. My cold has blossomed "beautifully" in my head now. I even called off work today, something I've never done since I started my part-time job at Kohl's. I'd like someone to break up my head and face with a sledgehammer right about now in order to get some sinus relief! lol ~S
