Diving into Nano
on a wing and a prayer. Perhaps starting off with cliches isn't the fastest way to success.
I am probably even less prepared for this year than I as last year. I wouldn't have thought it possible. Plot points. None. Character sketches. None. Well, not true. I did do a series of about three or four posts on this blog that constitute the seed of this story, and the characters have played around in my head since July. But I honestly have no idea where it's going. I did a bit of brainstorming that I lost, so from here till November 30th all my brainstorming is going in the manuscript in a different font color. Yes, it will count toward the 50,000. A word is a word. Plus I have a feeling I'll be lifting that information, changing its color and putting it within the manuscript as I go along. I can't afford to lose it, and what better way to prevent that than keeping it all in one place.
In addition to getting 5581 words under my belt so far, I have been sick with congestion, upset stomach and a fever, cleaned out two upright freezers, spent serious one-on-one time with my ds, got two guys out the door on a hunt, watched two movies, listened to some really cool CDs, slept, and burned a good part of a lilac scented candle. Did I mention the house was empty most of this time. Outside of myself, of course. And there has been absolutely NOTHING on TV worth watching. Very conducive to getting some writing done. And sleeping.
In just a few hours this will all come to an end. Everyone will come home, and they'll grab the remote (which, even though there's not been much on, I've been able to put the channel where I want and leave it there!), want to know what I have for them to eat, why the socks aren't folded, and want to chatter about the experience in general and perhaps grinch about having to go back to work tomorrow.
And I will be grateful to have them all back safe and sound.
