Back to Blogging

Last night I was listening to the men in my family talk about the Big 12 Championship Game this weekend and it dawned on me that I was blogging about last year's game and how I wasn't watching it. What a disaster. Do you think OU needs me to watch to win?

Well, they'll be disappointed again this year. :)

But more importantly than whether OU wins or loses (yes, there is life outside of football. Sorry guys!) this means I've been blogging now for over a year, and although this poor blog got sorely neglected last month I think it's time to get back to regular practice, or brainstorming or whatever.

I need to start coming up with what I plan to enter for OWFI this year. February 1st is sneaking up on me way too fast. Maybe I can sort that out here.

I'm ready for a quiet week indoors. I'm helping my friend with her garage sale this weekend (Thursday through Saturday) and while I love her company I so hate being out in the cold. And yesterday was downright cold. The wind was the killer. I had on several layers, so that wasn't so bad, but it's hard to keep a scarf in place and my nose froze. Thankfully we had a little space heater in the garage so it was possible to warm up when necessary. All in all, it was a surprisingly successful day for her. I'm always amazed at the die-hard garage sale fanatics that are out no matter what the time of year, no matter what the weather. Though they weren't too brave till yesterday afternoon when it had warmed up just a bit. Normally she wouldn't even bother this late in the season, but she's had several generous donations (she supplements disability income with these) and was running out of room in her house to store them. She figured this was the last chance this year.

So many of my friends around here have been sick--flu shot or not. One even more so after he had the flu shot. Of course, officially that never happens. It's the only thing about this sale that bothers me--the exposure to heaven knows what and the fact that I just don't tolerate cold well. My body rebels. I just know I want to stay as healthy as I can without lining the pockets of the pharmaceutical CEOs until there's no other choice. Think I'll hit the vitamins. :)

So I want to write, get back here to blog, but I don't have a clue about what. :) I need to get December's web page up. Guess that will have to wait till Sunday or Monday sometime. Saturday is "pick up, put away, throw away" day at the garage sale and it always wears me completely out. Once I come home to sleep there's no telling when I'll surface.

Stay warm and send warm thoughts my way! :)

DONE!

I am in full NaNo celebratory mode! :)

I crossed the finish line Saturday evening. Wrote over 10,000 words on Saturday alone. It was absolutely exhilarating but because I'm such a pessamist my celebration was blunted by caution. I was sure there was something wrong with my word count.

Well there was.

It was about 3,000 words SHORT. LOL! Everything is official now. NaNo says 55,000+.

I can sleep in peace. I had nightmares about waking up and realizing it was December first and too late....

I'm anxious to tell my Skateboard buddies but for some reason can't post there from this computers (my ds's; shhhh!!! Don't tell him I'm using it! LOL!) So for those of you who read both places, please, please forgive me for being redundant. I just really can't believe I have a completed draft. That's two drafts I've managed to complete, compared with the zillion half-finished ones in various files and on various disks.

My sig quote for the next month has to be:

"Writing the last page of the first draft is the most enjoyable moment in writing. It's one of the most enjoyable moments in life, period." ~Nicholas Sparks

Write on!!

Ah, the circle of life... Housework has me swamped, my faith keeps me from drowning, and my boys--including the taller, older one--keep me laughing. Somewhere in there I have to write, read, teach and learn. Which then leaves me swamped with housework....
